Lee Ella Wood, 90, left this earthly life Sunday, November 26 2023, at Life Brite Stokes County Nursing Home.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel with interment following in North View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She was a life-long resident of Stokes County. Lee Ella was born on February 7, 1933, to the late Frank Hall and Cora Elizabeth Hawkins Hall. She was a self-employed beautician and in later years was employed with the Wackenhut Corporation as a security officer. Her passion was square dancing and “scratching” lottery tickets. Lee Ella manicured her lawn—mowing, weed eating, trimming shrub. She maintained a neat and orderly home. She had a great sense of humor and truly enjoyed making others laugh.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James W. Patterson “J.W.”; father of her children Velbert Wood; a brother Welbert Hall and a sister Gladys Hall.

Survivors include a son Dale Wood, of King; daughters Pamela Wood Teague (Lee), of Eden, and Sheila Wood Smith, of Danbury; granddaughters Martina Booth (Jody), of Eden and Amanda Pyles (Joel), of Pinnacle; and a great-grandson Noah Robertson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department, 1022 Old Church Road, Danbury, NC 27016.

The family would like to thank the staff of Life Brite Stokes County Nursing Home for the loving and compassionate care Lee Ella received.

Colonial Funeral Home in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
