Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Williams, 88, of Mayodan, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at UNC-Rockingham Hospital in Eden.
Larry was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 2, 1936, to the late Henry and Emily Brunner Williams. He attended First Baptist Church of Mayodan, and he loved his family. Larry was an Eagle Scout, served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and served as assistant Fire Chief of NW Station 130, where he also taught Fire Safety Training. He had many hobbies including scuba diving, motorcycling, skiing (water and Snow), boating, and fishing. He was also a gifted carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Williams.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Becky Williams; his children, Larry Williams, Jr. and wife Pam of Stoneville, Jane Cardwell and husband Brent of Stuart, VA, Mitch Williams and wife Tonya of Jacksonville, NC, and Brian Williams and wife Michelle of Mayodan; two brothers, Hank Williams, Jr. and Carl Williams; six grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Patrick Williams (Katie), Lindsay Krause (Andy), Shae Cardwell, Brittany Comer (Joe), and Connor Steele; and nine great grandchildren, Jaden, Colten, Isaac, Finley, Laken, Kohen, Charleston, Kathryn, and Nate.
