Minnie Laura Lively Felts

January 23, 1938-May 9, 2022

Our sweet, compassionate and generous mother, Minnie Laura Lively Felts, was born in Reidsville, North Carolina on January 23, 1938 to Knox Kent and Mary Louise Roach Lively.

Knox and Louise raised Minnie Laura and her brothers Knox Kent Lively, Jr. and Edmund Pendleton Lively to care deeply, give generously, value education, appreciate animals and nature, and love unconditionally.

Minnie Laura embraced and lived by these gifts, setting an example for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who knew her.

Minnie Laura dedicated her life to family, friends and her community. She served as Community Service Director and Physician Recruiter for  Annie Penn Memorial Hospital, as Senior Warden of St Thomas Episcopal Church, and Mayor of Reidsville to name a few. Her Reidsville roots were deep, and the love she had for her community and every resident was immeasurable. She found the best in everyone and made each person she met along the way feel special.

Minnie Laura found great pleasure in playing bridge with her friends, participating in study club, working in her flower garden and arranging flowers, entertaining and living life to its fullest. She was at peace walking on the beach, collecting shells and sailing on the open waters with her devoted husband Ed. Her love for life and compassion for all things great and small were apparent to everyone she met and will live on in her friends and family.

Minnie Laura was preceded in death by her husband William Edward Felts, Jr., father Knox Kent Lively , mother Mary Louise Roach Lively and brother Knox Kent Lively, Jr. and stepson Willian Edward Felts, III.

Minnie Laura leaves behind her brother Edmund Pendleton Lively, children William Thomas Weeks, Jr. (Chere), Sherrie Weeks Fain (David), Jennifer Felts Murphy (Brian) and Lewis Watson Felts (Lauren), grandchildren James Kent Fain, William Bouldin Fain, Katherine Anderson Foster (Charlie), Matthew Murphy and Meghan Murphy Futrell (Jeremy) and 8 great grandchildren with a legacy of which they can be proud.

Celebration of Minnie Laura’s life is scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2022, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Reidsville, North Carolina with The Rt. Rev. William O. Gregg, Ph.D officiating.
