Obituary: LARRY GORDON COOK

Larry Gordon Cook, 83, of Reidsville, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at UNC Health Rockingham.

Larry was born in Davidson County to the late Harvey Cook and Lillian Russell Baker. He graduated from Thomasville High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He served his country in the US Navy stationed in San Diego, CA and Jacksonville, FL. After military service, he resumed his career in the furniture industry and raised his family in High Point, NC. He retired from Jack Cartwright, Inc. as a supervisor. After retiring, he and his wife relocated to Reidsville to be closer to their daughters. He had a great love for his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their many sporting events. He loved playing golf, spending time at the Outer Banks and observing wildlife.

Larry will be forever remembered as a loving spouse and father. Those who were the closest to him will remember him as Deda, Pawpaw and Daddy.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan Cook; daughters, Tonia Wall and husband Tim of Sophia, NC, and Karen Cook of Reidsville; grandchildren, Trout Cook, Taylor Cook, Austin Ford, Dakota Cook, Carly Cook, Maggie, Avery, Marty and Kayleigh Hester; several great grandchildren; family friend, Auntie Char Champion of High Point, NC; and nieces Nicole Rockstead and Denise Dugan of San Diego, CA; great nieces, Avalon Rockstead and Scout Dugan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Kevin Cook and brother, Bill Cook.

Larry’s wishes were to be cremated. Family will receive family and close friends on Thursday, September 12 from 5:00p-7:00p at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville.
