Larry Darnell Williams, the beloved husband of Dorothy Totten Williams, departed this life on Thursday evening, August 17, 2023.
He was a native of Caswell County, North Carolina and a resident of Rockingham County for the past 15 years. Following many years of laboring, he retired from Henniges Automotive. At a tender age, he united with the Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Ruffin and was a present member of Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he faithfully supported the missions of the church until his health declined. Being an avid sportsman, he enjoyed basketball and fishing. He also enjoyed listening to “old school’ music, spending time with family and eating good food.
His parents, Mary Bell Sherrill Williams and Emanuel Burley Williams; son, Jerome Mills; brother, Emanuel Williams, Jr., preceded him in death.
Survivors are: beloved wife, Dorothy Totten Williams; loving children, Danielle Echols (Jeremy), Tyrone Mills (Kim), Kimberly Jackson (Paul), William Morton (Patricia) and Shonda Wilds (Charles); 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Chambers; niece, Tracy Forde (Alvin); nephews, Jonathan Williams and Emanuel Williams, III; special friends referred as his sister and brother, Kay and Jerome Smith; devoted friends, The Smith Family and Jonathan Nimmons; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from the Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1302 Highway 29 Business with Pastor C. Bradley Hunt presiding and Dr. Clarence Johnson, eulogist. The family visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the church. Public viewing will be Monday afternoon at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.
