It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lane McCrae Williams “Bodee” on February 7, 2025, at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Stuart, Virginia on August 26, 1954, McCrae was a lifelong resident of Lawsonville.
He met the love of his life and beloved wife, Barbara Amos Williams, at a Valentine Dance at Sandy Ridge School in 1969. Barbara and McCrae were married for 52 years. McCrae loved his son Chad and his three beautiful granddaughters, who he dearly cherished. He considered himself rich with his family and the love they shared. Nothing made Papa Bodee happier than having his granddaughters on the farm.
McCrae was a self-employed tobacco farmer and had the privilege of farming his land with his father by his side for most of his career. Bodee truly worshiped his father, Sandy. Bodee was a kind, humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life. From farming tobacco crops to cultivating beautiful vegetable gardens, he took pride in his ability to make things grow. Bodee was a collector of farm equipment and loved to frequent auctions looking for his next best “cherished” antique.
Bodee had many close friends and whether they were simply sitting on the porch talking, hunting or riding Harley motorcycles together, he considered friends members of his family.
Barbara and Chad would like to especially thank their dear friends, Alan and DeAnn Hall family, for their unwavering help, concern and support.
Bodee was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and a 1973 graduate of North Stokes High School.
McCrae was preceded in death by his parents, Sandy T. Williams and Celia Ann Stovall Williams and a brother, Darrell Ray Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Amos Williams; son, Chad Williams (Brandie Farmer Williams); his three beautiful granddaughters, Alexis Laine Williams, Alexandria Lynne Williams, and Presley Ann Williams; niece, Wendy Williams Logan (Michael), their children Anna and Joshua; and nephew, Devan Ray Williams.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for McCrae’s end of life care.
Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
