Obituary: LANDON BRUCE MISE, JR

Landon Bruce “Billy” Mise, Jr, 86, of Yanceyville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 8,2022, in the Locust Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation, but family will receive friends following the service. At other times, the family will be at his daughter’s home. A native of Caswell County, Billy was the son of the late Landon Bruce and Elizabeth Reagan Mise and had lived his entire life in Yanceyville. He was a 1954 graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School. He was employed at Cole Chevrolet and the Plymouth Place as a mechanic before becoming self-employed at Billy’s Repair Shop. He was still servicing the cars of many around the town of Yanceyville.
Billy was a member of the Yanceyville Volunteer Fire Department from 1957 until the present and was still driving fire truck #11, which the firemen affectionately call “Billy’s truck.” He was the oldest and longest serving fireman in the county to date. He received the Yanceyville Volunteer Fire Department Fireman of the Year Award three times. His family was his pride and joy. He took such pleasure in the time he spent with them. He had been married to Mary Kiser for 65 years. He watched with great pride as daughter, Lynn and grandchildren, Lindsey and Josh grew up and made their way into the world. He enjoyed cooking breakfast for his little buddies, Landon and Levi. They were truly the apple of his eye. He loved his bluegrass music. He enjoyed hunting with his buddies, Mark and Tim Cobb and Homer Shelton and fishing with his pal, Rickey Williams. He also loved flea markets which was a Saturday ritual for him and buddy, Jimmy Dodson. He also enjoyed all the friends who stopped by his shop to “chew the fat.” The family wants to express gratitude to David and Sue Poteat for their help and support over the years. The family is so appreciative of all the calls, texts, and visits. Prayers were felt and appreciated.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sisters, Hilda Mise Massey, Sarah Mise, and Betty Mise, and a brother, Bobby Mise.Survivors include his wite, Mary Kiser Mise, his daughter, Lynn Mise Foster (Mitch), his grandchildren, Lindsey Foster Strader (Ryan), and Joshua Duke Foster (Lindsey), his great grandchildren, Landon Boyd Strader and Levi Mitchell Strader, his sister, Nancy Mise Rudd, beloved nephews, Brian and Landon Massey, Bruce Rudd, nieces, Melanie Kobos and Phyllis Mincey, honorary little brother, Vernon Massengill, and many special friends.
Pallbearers for the service will be Brian Massey, Landon Massey, Tim Cobb, Mark Cobb, Rickey Williams, and Jimmy Dodson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Johnny Mac Watlington, Jack Hooper, Richard Dailey, Jerry Powell, Richard Shively, Ray McGuire, David Poteat, Homer Shelton, and Ray Kimrey.
Please know if Billy was here, he would tell all those he loved that he would see them later. Take comfort knowing that we will see him again. Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Mise family.
