Lal McGehee Knowles, 82, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 23, 2022, in Reidlawn Cemetery with Dennis Vass officiating.
A native of Rockingham Co., he was the son of the late William McKinley and Mary Jackson Knowles and he had lived in the Grooms Road Community all of his life. He was retired from Harris Teeter grocery store where he was a butcher. Lal was one of Jehovah’s Wittnesses and a cattle farmer. He was happiest when he was on the farm working with his cattle. Lal was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters; Katherine Marie Jones, Billie Malvin Knowles, and Peggy Ann Foster.
Surviving is his sister; Josephine Jackson Knowles Talley (Bob) of Duluth, GA, nephew; Bruce M. Talley (Nancie) of Duluth, GA, niece; Penny T. Jolly (Jay) of Asheville and his brother-in-law; Charles Edward Foster of Reidsville.
