Kenneth Lee Rierson, 85, passed away Monday morning, July 25, 2022, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 29th, at Liberty Wesleyan Church in Summerfield, where he was a member. Pastor Danny Janes and Pastor David Surrett will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 – 2 PM) at Liberty Wesleyan Church.
Kenneth was born January 29, 1937. He was a native of Guilford County being born to the late Oscar and Mattie Flippin Rierson. Kenneth was a US Army veteran and a retiree of Lorillard Tobacco Company.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Eanes Pruitt Rierson of the home; son, Jeffery Rierson (Jenny) of Summerfield; step-sons, Gary “Weeble” Pruitt (Mary) and their grandson, Alexander, of Summerfield and Tim Pruitt (Penny) of Pelham; daughter, Delane Williams (Randy) of Summerfield; two grandchildren, Jordan Lee Williams (Alexis) and Jeremy Williams (Heather); great-granddaughter, Madilyn Williams; along with two brothers, David Rierson and Michael Rierson (Barbara).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Polly Rierson; three brothers, Stick Rierson, Charles Rierson and Jerry Rierson and three sisters, Gretchen Sumner, Rachel Thomas and Lane Greene.
The family would like to thank all the 4th floor staff and the wonderful doctors that cared for Ken at Wesley Long Hospital. They extend a special thanks to Dr. McKeown for all the years he took care of Ken and for being his friend.
