Kenneth Claude Gunn, 87, a gentle, loving husband, father, left this earthly life Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
A Memorial Service for the family only will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022, with Military Honors.
Born on October 4, 2022, in Rockingham County, Ken was a graduate of Midway High School in Virginia and High Point College. He was a US Navy Veteran, served on the USS Shadwell; a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, and a retiree of Electric Supply and Equipment.
Ken was an avid reader, loved all sports, especially NC State, St. Louis Cardinals, and NASCAR. He enjoyed working in his flowers, feeding the birds, watching T.V .and working word puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Wilton Gunn and Bessie Arlene Sutphin Gunn; a sister, Carolyn Gunn; brothers ,Wade, Leonard, Harold, and Jimmy Gunn; sisters-in-law, Linda Gunn, and Alice Gunn.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Abigail Hall Gunn; children, Kendra Gunn Howard (Joe); grandchildren, Justin Howard (Hope) ,Jenna Howard Thomasson (Joseph); great-grandchild, Martha Joy Thomasson; a nephew, like a son, Jason Hall (Mandi), and their children, Madison and Makenna Dwiggins; Skylar Grace Hall; sisters, Bettie G. Phillips, Diane G. Baker; brothers, John Gunn (Janice), Lewis Gunn (Phyllis), and Mac Gunn; sisters-in-law, Adelle Gunn and Deana Gunn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, 8011 NC 704 Hwy, Madison, NC 27025.
Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
