Junius Leroy Beaver, 89, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at his home in Madison, NC.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison from 5-7 pm. A graveside service will be Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 2 pm at Deep River Friends Meeting in High Point, NC.
Junius was born May 22, 1934, to the late Nina and Junius Beaver in High Point. He spent 3 years, 1953-1956, in the United States Army, 11th Airborne and Signal Corp. He is a 1960 graduate of NC State University with a major in Forest Management. After 30 years of service, he retired from the US Forest Service. Junius also dedicated many years to the field of genealogy. He was a member of Rockingham Stokes Genealogical Society and served as the editor of the annual newsletter for the society.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sibyl Beaver, sons, Jeff Beaver and Mark Beaver (Debbie); daughter, Cheryl Watts (Bernie); nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; stepdaughters, Karen Griffin (Bobby), Jane Younts, Susan Laws (Lindsay); four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Junius was preceded in death by his parents, Nina and Junius Beaver; first wife of 35 years Betty Snowdy Beaver; daughter-in-law, Karen Beaver; stepson-in-law, Wayne Smith and two step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375; to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to an organization of your choice.
