Julius Vance Sizemore, 88 of Ruffin, NC passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025.
Julius was born in Guilford County to the late Theodore Roosevelt Sizemore and Bessie Lee May Sizemore. He and Ruth shared many adventures over the years, especially their trips to the tractor shows in Denton, NC, where he proudly displayed the tractors he loved to build. One of his favorite places was the Hillsville flea market—he never missed a chance to find a bargain or a hidden gem. A true character, he often made up silly songs and sang them as he walked around, always with a smile. If you knew him well, you’d recognize the familiar knock of “shave and a haircut,” one of his favorites. He had a lifelong passion for cars, trucks, and tractors—especially if they were red. His beloved cat Rambo was always by his side, his faithful chair buddy who brought him both laughter and companionship. Gifted with both hands and heart, he could fix or build just about anything, always inventing, always helping. Reminiscing about the good old days often left him laughing so hard he’d be in tears. He loved the lake, the thrill of boating, and his regular seat at the Bowman Gray races, where the roar of the engines matched his own enthusiasm. Above all, he will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and the way he made everyone feel like family.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Carl Sizemore and sister, Alice Tucci.
Julius is survived by his wife of 21 years, Ruth Keatts Sizemore; children, Vivian Sizemore Rivers, Kim Parham (Raye), Lisa Sizemore (Keith Meshlovitz); step children, Steve E. Woodson, Nancy Holt (Ron), Mark Woodson (Star); 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Shoffner as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
