Obituary: JUDY LINEBERRY GWYN

Judy Lineberry Gwyn, 82, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at home with a longing to be united with her late husband.

She was born on January 24, 1942, in Rockingham County to the late John W. Lineberry and Josie Mabe Lineberry. She was of the Baptist faith. Judy loved being a homemaker, cooking, and taking care of her family. She enjoyed bluegrass and gospel music.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roy Roger Gwyn; three sisters, Vertie Mitchell, Berla Carter, Mary Hawks; five brothers, Carl Edward, Eli, Johnny “Bunny”, Hubert, and Fetzer Lineberry. She is also preceded in death by grandson, James “Little J” Edward Gwyn; great-granddaughters, Cheyenne Bullins and Summer Rain Lynn Hiatt; nephews, Terry Mitchell, David Purgason; niece, Derba Purgason; and granddaughter-in-law, Brandy Gwyn.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Kenneth Gwyn (Jan), Patsy Gwyn, Barbara Scarlette (Charles), Marie Gwyn (Dewey), William Gwyn (Charlotte), and Timothy Gwyn (Janet); 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at a later date.

Charlotte Gwyn, daughter-in-law, was Judy’s caregiver for eight years. Special recognition goes to Charlotte who unselfishly devoted her life to Judy’s needs.
