Judy “Dianne” Lester of Bahama, N.C., formerly of Sandy Ridge, N.C., passed from this earthly life Sunday, January 22, 2023.
She was born August 31, 1947, in Stokes County, Sandy Ridge, N.C., to the late Jefferson Davis and Betty Elizabeth Nance Lester. She graduated from North Stokes High School in 1966. In her early twenties, she moved to Durham, went to work for IBM and retired after 30 years of service.
Dianne was a member of Mayo Christian Church in Spencer, VA, and spent her life in service helping others.
In addition to her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Mitchell Lester, Sr., maternal grandparents, David Bill and Eliza Sahara Ziglar Nance, and paternal grandparents, Richard Oliver and Maude Elizabeth Cox Lester, and her special Lab, Pepper.
Those left to cherish her memory are a sister, Elizabeth Fay O’Quinn of Timberlake, N.C.; brothers, John Davis Lester, Dowell (Darrel) and wife, Vivian, both of Sandy Ridge, also a sister-in-law, Joyce B. Lester, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her precious Dachshund Abbie.
A private graveside service with relatives and close friends will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11 A.M. at Mayo Christian Church Cemetery with Curt Ashley officiating.
How blessed Dianne’s life was to have had special and dedicated friends that were there for her, Pat Lasater, Lollie Edwards, Peggy Bennett, and Carol Nichols.
Also special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Duke Regional Hospital for the love and care provided to Dianne during this difficult time.
