Joseph Henry Trogdon of Madison, Stokes, North Carolina, left to be with his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2024. Born April 6. 1942, to Dewey Leonard Trogdon, Sr. and Ethel Miller Trogdon of Summerfield, NC. Joe was the baby of four children. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Beverly (Donald) Blankenship, Dewey L Trogdon Jr., Nancy (Jim) McElrath, and nephew Justin Blankenship.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Madison with burial to follow at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Ridge. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at First Baptist of Madison and all other times at the home.

Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Linville Trogdon, son Scott (Shanda) Trogdon, and daughter Retired U.S. Air Force Major Wendy Jo Trogdon, grandchildren Emily (Bryan) Nix, Ethan Trogdon (Mari), step-grandchildren Sarah (Tyler) Loftis, U.S. Marine Corp Lcpl T. Hunter (Summer) Roberts, Christopher Roberts (Farris), great-grandchildren Sterling Nix, Wyatt Nix, Brantley Loftis, sister-in-law Barbara Trogdon, brother-in-law Kenny (Julie) Linville, nieces and nephews Dr. Sirie Blankenship, Kathy Blankenship, James (Becky) Blankenship, John (Melanie) Blankenship, Mark (Renee) Trogdon, Leonard (Genessa) Trogdon, Phillip McElrath, Ellen (Dave) Matthews, Toby (Crystal) Linville.

Joe joined The United States Army in June 1960, on the same day he graduated from Summerfield High School. Once donned in his uniform, Joe gathered his courage to speak to a young Ms. Carolyn Linville. They had a two-year courtship and married on December 22, 1962. They have remained married for 61 years. Carolyn has been by his side through raising two children, job relocations, and all that their wonderful life together had to offer.

Joe was a master welder. His welding career included pipe and fittings for powerhouses and pipelines. He helped build Miller Brewery in the late 1970s as a specialized welder all while farming tobacco. He was then a welding instructor at Rockingham Community College for several years. Joe went into business for himself, Joe Trogdon Welding, Inc., when one of his largest customers, Carlton Scale enticed him to come and work for them. Joe became Vice President from a starting position as a technician. While Joe did retire, multiple times, he was a man who never turned down an opportunity to work.

Joe was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, NC, and then First Baptist Church of Madison, NC. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Plumber &Pipe Fitters Union Local 640 in Greensboro, NC, Rockingham County Honor Guard, and American Legion Post 254 in Eden, NC.

Joe was loved and respected by many, yet no one more than his family.
