Joseph Lee Scales, the beloved husband of Annie Hooper Scales, departed this life on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a former Cable Technician by trade. During his leisure, he enjoyed planting flowers and reading.
His parents, Navassie Watkins Taylor and John Henry Scales, Sr.; sisters, Vonda Shore and Myner Broadnax; brother, Darrell Scales, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: beloved wife of 25 years, Annie Hooper Scales; son, Joseph James Scales, I; step-daughter, Anna Marie Hill; step-sons, Nicholas Lamont Hill (Shacree), Ovelton Adams Wiley and Anton Lamar Wiley; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Fields; brother, John Henry Scales (April); aunt, Alvandela Campbell; brother-in-law, Jessie Broadnax; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
