Mr. Joseph Edward Graves, age 64, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at East Carolina University Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
Public viewing will begin Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 2 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Evangelist Felicia Roberts from Little Bethlehem Christian Church will deliver the words of comfort.
Joseph attended Reidsville Senior High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for a brief period. He was an excellent painter, handyman and great cook. He could repair anything that was broken and he enjoyed making those repairs for family and friends. He was also a “neat” and “sharp” dresser. We will cherish the time we had with him, but we realize God loved him more!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Webb and Nell Jean Graves Slade; sisters, Patricia Slade and Crystal Slade.
Survivors include children, Adrian Harris (Ebony Franklin), JoAnna Reese (Alan), Joseph Graves Jr. (Jasmine Clark) and Ytossie Graves; brothers Harvey Slade and Johnny Graves; grandchildren, Keshawn Crisp, Spencer Reese, Zendaya Graves and Jahmari Franklin; grandmother, Daisy Bell Graves; aunts, Peggy Graves (Roselle, NJ) and Irene G. Courts; uncles, Alfred Graves and James Graves Jr.; Levon Graves and Ronald Graves; mother of his children, Shenna Harris and Tracy Matkins; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
