Johnny Douglas Sparks, 79, passed away early Thursday morning, July 14, 2022.

A visitation will be held from 2 – 4 PM on Saturday, July 16th, at Colonial Funeral Home & Chapel in Madison.

A native of Rockingham County, NC, Johnny was born January 7, 1943 to the late Willie and Tula Holt Sparks. He was a retired truck driver having worked for many years as a cross country driver. Prior to his retirement he drove for Utility Services in Madison. Johnny was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Trent Sparks of the home; four children, Johnny D. Sparks, Jr. of Madison, Michelle Sparks, Teresa Kellam and Lorri Sparks, all of Stoneville; eight grandchildren, Michael Sparks, Jamie Gibson, Jason Sparks, Mason Reynolds, Joseph Sparks, Misa Mar, Emily Reynolds and Paige Reynolds; seven great-grandchildren, A. J. Mar, Annabelle Mar, Haven Sparks, Grayson Sparks, Tory Hill, Lexi Hill and Zhion Broadnax; his siblings, Billy Sparks, Barbara Smith and Gloria Vernon; along with a two sisters-in-law, Barbara Sparks and Elaine Sparks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four of his siblings, Tommy Sparks, Bob Sparks, Ronnie Sparks, Dorenda Shaw and Jewel Walker.
