

Elder Johnnie Lafayette Duggins, 92, departed for his heavenly home on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Harmony of Greensboro, to be greeted by his Savior, many fellow elders, church members and friends.
Johnnie was born on May 22, 1932 in Mayodan to the late Jesse and Annie May Faucher Duggins and graduated from Madison High School. He honorably entered into the United States Army in February of 1953, serving during the Korean War. On August 14th of that same year, he married the love of his life, Rebecca Trent. In May of 1953, Johnnie was ordained as an elder in the Primitive Baptist faith and began his preaching career. After a few years as a drivers license examiner with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Johnnie began working in 1962 with Dillon Hastings, retiring at age 88.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clay Duggins; brother, Paul Duggins and brother-in-law, Bert Lawson.
Survivors include his wife of seventy-one years, Rebecca Trent Duggins; sister, Maxine Lawson and caregivers, Todd and Rhonda Shelton and Bruce and Marcie Burton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial to honor Johnnie may be made to Ancora Compassionate Care, PO 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
