John William “Bill” Cassell, 93, of Eden passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his residence.
John was born in Rockingham County on October 13, 1931, a son of Loy Grover Cassell and Hattie Holly Samuels, both deceased. He was a US Army veteran. In his younger years, he was a bus driver for Trailways. He also helped his father sell cars at Riverside Motors. He was a supervisor for Fieldcrest Mills for 34 years. He was the owner for 23 years of Cassell’s Car & Truck Sales and Eden Tire & Wheel Center. He was a faithful member of the Eden Kiwanis Club. He was a CB Radio Enthusiast and a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed building and restoring classic and antique cars.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jewel Shook Cassell; his son, John W. Cassell, Jr.; and his grandsons, Jacob Cassell and James Stephens.
John is survived by his children, Mike Cassell (Judy) of Atlantic Beach, Scott Cassell (Jan) of Stoneville, Tony Cassell (Camie) of Reidsville, Susie Leismamn (Richy) of Germany and Melissa Stephens (Ron O’Connor) of Georgia; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Duncan Cassell; his sister, Hope Roberson of Reidsville; his special friend, Eliza Adams; his grandchildren, Ryan Cassell (Kim), Nikki Cassell, Kristin Goggin (Justin), Josh Oliver (Angel), Joseph Cassell, John Cassell III (Ashton), Matthew Cassell (Justin), Brittany Cassell, Elizabeth Cauvel, Seth Stephens; his 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
