John Melvin Ferrone, 79, died on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Duke University Hospital after losing his battle with cancer.
Mr. Ferrone was born on August 15, 1944 in Frederick County, Maryland. John was a pilot, avid sailor, and a passionate runner and athlete. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, showcasing his commitment to both his country and his fellow service members. For thirty-six years, John was a proud member of the National Security Agency and rose to the level of Director of Security. He then served as the Director of Security for AT&T. Throughout his life, he was known for his warmth and kindness.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandpap, Archie Mitchell, and his mother, Helen Mitchell Ferrone.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Ferrone; son, Kenneth Ferrone; daughter, Melissa Ferrone (Craig) and many extended family members and friends.
