Obituary: JOHN EDDIE ADKINS

John Eddie Adkins, the best man we ever knew died on Sunday, 9/3/23 surrounded by people who love and admire him, just shy of his 80th birthday. His huge heart simply had enough and he is finally at peace.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Linda. His two daughters Tamatha Adkins-Ford (Tommy) and Tiffany Bullins (Doug). A passel of grandchildren, Teagan Brawley (Landon), Colby Wrenn, Kristen Switzer (Shane), Haley Stephenson (Evans), Cole Bullins (Ashley). Great-grandchildren Eddie Boggs, Maverick Brawley, Chloe and Piper Switzer, Caleigh Bullins and Honey Boggs.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Schuyler Roberson.

John and Linda attended Peters Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years. His greatest loves were God, his country, and his family. John was a Vietnam Veteran, a lifetime member of both the VFW and the American Legion.

John Eddie will be missed tremendously by so many friends and family and the world is a little dimmer for losing his love and light.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life service at 6 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
