John Curtis Doss, 89, died on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the Glenn’s Chapel Church Cemetery with Elder David Minter officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and all other times at the home.
Mr. Doss was born on March 24, 1933 in Stokes County to the late Roy Lemuel Doss and Trudie Essie Lackey Doss. Curtis served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1954-1956 and was employed with Washington Mills, the Madison Messenger and Twin Rivers Printing during his working career. He was a talented photographer, musician, artist and gardener who will forever be remembered for his joyful spirit. Curtis was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ralph Doss; brother, Akers Doss and sisters, Pauline Francis and Doris Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Mary Lee Joyce Doss; nephew, David Hawkins (Connie); nieces, Julia Minter (David), Rose Mary Martin (Carl) and Sarah Wood (Rickie) and many special extended family members and friends.
The family wishes to thank all of Curtis’ doctors, nurses, family, friends and neighbors for their love and support over the past few years.
