John Cecil Rand, 94, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 23, 2023, at his home after a short illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday September 27, 2023 at Woodmont United Methodist Church. Burial to follow in Reidlawn Cemetery with military rites. The family will see friends 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday September 26, 2023, at Citty Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
A native of Harnett County, Cecil was the son of the late James Hall and Allene Parker Rand and lived most of his life in Reidsville. He was a retired engineer with Western Electric Co. and was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of Woodmont United Methodist Church where he was the former treasurer, a former choir member, a member and teacher of the Aldersgate Sunday School Class and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Men. He was a former member of the Reidsville Lion’s Club, and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, traveling and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Cecil was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mildred Harrington Rand.
Survivors include his daughters: Sara Rand Misenheimer (Ted) of Salisbury and Janice L. Rand of Charlotte, grandchildren: John C. Misenheimer (Irina) of Oak Ridge and William J. Misenheimer of Charlotte, great grandchildren: Zaria Misenheimer and Zane Misenheimer both of Oak Ridge, sisters: Jean Fowlkes and Carolyn Roberts both of Reidsville, brother-in-law: Robert Griffin of Broadway, and a number of nieces and nephews.
