Joanne Parker Barnes, 94, passed away at her home, early Sunday morning, October 15, 2023.
A memorial service will be held October 22nd, 2:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home and Chapel in Madison. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service in the Chapel.
Joanne was born January 21, 1929, in Wichita, Kansas to Evan and Clara Parker of Lewis, Kansas. Joanne retired from a career in the General Service Administration of the Federal Government. She was active in community and civic organizations and many areas of service in Holbrook, Arizona. She was an active member of Woodbine Baptist Church in Mayodan.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ross L. Barnes as well as her parents Evan and Clara Parker and brother, Gordon Parker.
She is survived by her two sons, Rod L. Barnes (Susan) and Thane E. Barnes (Susan) and daughter Gail B. Houston (Ed); grandchildren Melissa Meekin (Brandon), Jenna Spradlin (Brandon), Stephanie Houston and Katherine Medberry (Jake); great grandchildren, Adrien Martin, Maddox Meekin, Elise Meekin, Jackson Meekin, Carson Spradlin, Easton Spradlin and Hudson Spradlin; nieces, Shelley and Brittney Allyn (Manny) and Connie Wagner and nephews, Jay Caywood (Sharon) and the late Don Caywood (Donna).
