

JoAnn Collins Murphy, 79, joined her spirit with that of her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 30, 2025.
JoAnn was born on February 7, 1946 in Rockingham County to the late Willie James Collins and Daisy Lee Pulliam Collins. JoAnn worked her entire life as a housewife, which allowed her to be near her family whom she loved dearly. JoAnn was a classy lady who enjoyed reading, sewing and shopping with her favorite stores being Joanns Fabrics and Hobby Lobby. She also loved doing most any kind of craft and was well known for her cooking. Her delicious meals always included potato salad, sweet potato casserole and cornbread.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Collins; sisters, Helen Trosi and Lois Hoyle and a precious great-granddaughter, Serinetey Cary.
Survivors include her loving husband, Sidney Vaughn Murphy; son, Phillip Murphy; daughters, Joni Murphy (Kenny) and Angela Rachol Mabe; grandchildren, Austin, Haley and Alec Mabe, Destinie (Dalton) Atha, Chloee Murphy, Faith, Hope and Tyler Manuel; great-grandchildren, Chase Bullins, Mariyah and Logan Atha, Nolan and Liam Pegram, Kamren Carey and Lynette Lipscomb and sisters, Carolyn Bullins (Steve), Judy Collins, Liz Tilley and Joan Cardwell.
Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
