Jimmy Ray Watkins, 71, died on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at his home.
Mr. Watkins was born on June 18, 1953 in Rockingham County. Jimmy was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent his life contributing to various fields. Raised working in tobacco, he continued his strong work ethic throughout his life. He also worked in logging and was a skilled sheet metal mechanic. Jimmy was a Christian and of the Baptist faith, and we take comfort in knowing he is now in heaven with Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ray Watkins and Mamie Grubbs Watkins.
Survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Mary Dalton Watkins; children, Jennifer Watkins Ogburn (Bert) and Zachary Michael Watkins; grandchildren, Caroline Ogburn, Kalista Minor, Levi Watkins and Tyler Ogburn and numerous aunts, uncles and extended family members.
