

Jimmy Marcus “Mark” Ellis, 71 of Eden, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Lexington Healthcare.
Mark was born February 2, 1954 in Rock Hill, S.C. to the late Luther Ray Ellis and Lena Elder Ellis. Mark grew up a Draper boy and, after graduating from Morehead High School class of 1972, he attended Lees-McRae College and started his life and love for football. He later transferred to Elon College. From there he signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. In the early 80’s he played on the AFA League with the Carolina Chargers and Virginia Hunters. Mark was with Rice Toyota for most of his career and he loved selling cars, meeting people, making new friends and sharing the love of Jesus. He dedicated 42 years to Rice Toyota of Greensboro and Mid-State Toyota of Asheboro. He was a member and past deacon at Draper Christian Church.
Left behind to cherish his memory are wife, Virginia “Gina” King Ellis; daughter, Leah Ellis Brown and husband Greg of Eden; brothers, Glenn R. Ellis of Ruffin and Gerald Ellis and wife Debbie of Eden; sister, Jeanne Ellis Rumbley and husband Braxton of Eden; grandchildren, Lynley Brown and Tanner Brown and Meghan and great-grandson, Quinton Brown. As well as many nieces and nephews.
