Jimmie Daniel Reddick, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Jimmie was born on October 13, 1935, in Reidsville, NC to the late Paul Reddick and Katie Mabe Reddick. He graduated from Mayodan High School in 1953 where he played football for the Green Hornets. He attended Western Carolina University. Jimmie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict. He retired from the Veterans Administration in Winston-Salem, NC where he worked as an adjudicator. Post retirement, as health permitted, he continued to enjoy playing golf with his buddies and for many years played a mean game of Rook with friends and in local tournaments. He enjoyed watching the pros play golf on TV and rooted for the N.C. State Wolfpack in ACC Basketball Play. In recent years, Jimmie enjoyed gathering at Hardees and Subway with friends. He enjoyed contacting local folks who were not feeling well, always leaving them with words of encouragement and well wishes.
Faith in Jesus Christ was uppermost with Jimmie as he read and studied his Bible. He attended Mayodan First Baptist Church for many years and became a member of Mayodan Methodist Church in 2004.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Betty Jane Barrow Reddick, sister, Irene Reddick Gravely, and brother Glenn Reddick.
Surviving are his stepdaughter, Connie Fox, and many cousins; special friends include Howard Case, Billy Watkins, Ada Wells, and Lynn and Larry Reid and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mayodan Methodist Church, PO Box 219, Mayodan, NC 27027.
