Obituary: JEANNE RUMBLEY KNIGHT

Jeanne Rumbley Knight, 87, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kernersville.

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Oak Level Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m. on Monday at the church.

Jeanne was born on September 12, 1936 in Rockingham County to the late Harrison Rumbley and Bessie Voss Rumbley. She was a graduate of Summerfield High School and a near thirty-seven year retiree of Vicks Chemical Company which later became Proctor & Gamble. Post retirement, Jeanne worked for Websters Farm at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market for ten years. Jeanne was a faithful member of Oak Level Baptist Church, where she loved her church family. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Auxillary Post 8297 in Reidsville and a member of the Stokesdale Community Choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. “Bill” Knight; son-in-law, Tommy Webster; sisters, Mary Ivey and Gaynelle Knight and infant brother, Carmon Rumbley.

Survivors include her daughters, Sue Webster, Sondra Beene (Pete) and Regina Pegram (Rick); grandchildren, Jon Webster, Lauren Webster Harter (Brandon), Elizabeth Beene Crouch (Benjamin), Walter Harrison Beene, China Pegram (Brent Holyfield) and Tamra Schmid (Nick); great-grandchildren, Eli, Noah and Graham Harter, William, Charlotte and James Crouch, Brydon and Ryker Holyfield and Aiden Stanco; brother, Kenny Rumbley; special friend, Lou Zettie Pardue and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kernersville for their special and attentive care.
