Janet Atkins Roberts, 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. As a courtesy to those that are sick and shut-in, the church will livestream the funeral service on the Oak Grove Baptist Church Facebook page.

Mrs. Roberts was born on November 2, 1947 in Rockingham County to the late Raymond “Hooter” Baxter Atkins and Estelle Virginia Clark Atkins. Janet dedicated forty–three years to the banking industry in Madison, taking special care of the farming community at the New Madison Warehouse. She was not only a dedicated professional but also a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she was the church pianist for the last fifty plus years. Janet also served on the Colonial Funeral Home Board of Directors for many years, most recently serving as the current Corporate Secretary. She will forever be remembered for her passion of cooking, especially baking and canning.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Charles Atkins.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, Charles William Roberts, daughter, Charlene Roberts Hunley (Jay); son, Chad Roberts (Jennifer) and grandchildren, Lauren Hunley Byers (Edward), Reese Hunley, Claire Roberts and Clark Roberts.

The family would like to thank Jessica Garrett, Debbie Garner and the AuthoraCare Hospice staff for their loving and attentive care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Judy Hennis, 1789 Reynolds Road, Madison, NC 27025 and/or AuthoraCare Hospice.
