Obituary: JAMES SKOVEL WILLARD

James “Jimmy” Skovel Willard, 81, of Eden passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at Jacobs Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation in Madison.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 4pm Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Morehead-Fair House in Eden.

Jimmy was born December 5, 1942, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Cedric Skovel Willard and Marie Pender Willard. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator by trade, working for many companies over the years. Most recently, Jimmy worked for Sam W. Smith, Inc. He loved his horses and his bird dogs. He enjoyed trips to South Dakota. Jimmy was always willing to help anyone who needed him and he never met a stranger.

Surviving are his sons, Patrick (Angie) Willard of Eden, Kenneth (Donna) Willard of Linville, Indiana; granddaughters, Hunter, Alaxia, Veronica; grandson, James Wilson Willard; mother of his children, Sandra Willard.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother, Michael “Hammer” Willard.
