Obituary: JAMES EDGAR “EDDIE” WARD

James Edgar “Eddie” Ward, 78, of Reidsville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 25, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Covington Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home.

Eddie was born in Durham County to the late James Woodrow Ward and Muriel Inez Brame Ward. Eddie loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a loving husband and father and a faithful member of Covington Wesleyan Church. He had a deep love for his friends and Duke basketball. In his younger years, he enjoyed muscle cars and racing. Eddie loved the water, spending time boating and jet skiing, and he loved to watch old westerns and cheesy cop shows. His kindness and devotion left an impact on everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Ward, and sister, Phyllis Howerton. Eddie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol Ward; sons, James Clinton Ward and Aaron Peterson Ward; and his dog, Tori.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tunnel to Towers, and Samaritan’s Purse.
