Obituary: JAMES CLAUDE WILLIAMSON, III

James Claude Williamson, III, 71, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Universal Healthcare in King.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donnie Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison.

Mr. Williamson was born on March 3, 1951 in Knox County, Tennessee to the late James Claude Williamson, Jr. and Sally Joe Gurganus Williamson. Claude retired as a staff engineer from the NCDOT, Division 9. He was a longtime member of the Old Country Church and a fifteen year member of the Rock House Ruritan Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Carl “Andy” Southern.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Puckett Williamson; daughters, Jennifer Southern McHone (Jonathan), Amelia “Amy” Cook (Bobby) and Heather Southern Glidewell (Dwan); grandchildren, Amber Joyce (Travis), Aaron Rierson (Caytee), Hannah Burgess (Stanley), Matthew Cook (Erika), James Cook (Brianna), Nathaniel Southern, Cheyenne Glidewell (Trey), Samuel McHone (Charley), Brandi Glidewell and Jessica Yates (Randy); great-grandchildren, Kelsey Joyce, Gracie Cook, Harper Rierson, Eli McHone and Brennan Yates; brother, Joe Linwood Williamson (Sherri); niece, Lauren Elizabeth Williamson; special furbaby, Charlie and many special extended family members.
