Iva Lee Bynum Rutherford, 95, of Mayodan, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale.
A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Lawndale at Reedy Fork Baptist Church in Browns Summit with Rev. Randy Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, May 27, 2022, at the church from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Iva was born in Oenonta, Alabama on June 5, 1926, to the late James and Adeline Phillips Bynum. She loved her family very much and was so proud of each one of them. She loved to travel, especially to the beach. Iva was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church for over 40 years. Iva also loved crocheting and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Rutherford; her sons, Thomas and Ronnie Rutherford, her great grandsons William Rutherford and Brooks Gregory, her brothers, Clyde, Charlie, Howard, and Lloyd Bynum; and her sister, Lula Canaday.
Those left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Patricia Smith (Thomas), Thomas Rutherford, Jr., Mike Rutherford (Kay), Sam Rutherford (Brenda), and Kelly Rutherford (Kelly); ten great-grandchildren, Tiffany Chambers (Roger, Sr.), Timothy Smith (Crystal), Sarah Gregory, Zachary Smith, Joshua Rutherford (Terri), Nathan Rutherford, Kimberly Gardner (Terry), Megan Covey, Mary Mizzell (Jonathan) and Jessica Rutherford; 21 great-great grandchildren, Roger Chambers Jr (Brittney), Willow Gregory, Brea Rutherford, Kenzie and Jaxen Gardner, Sawyer, Sammi, Stella, Shawn and Sydney Mizzell, Christopher Jr, Beau and Skylar Covey, Austin, Alivia, Addison, Abram, Allissa, Remington, Mackenzie and Eliza Rutherford; three great-great-great- grandchildren, Elena and Regina Chambers and June Rutherford and numerous nieces and nephews.
