Irene Estelle Holloway Knight, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at her home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at The Refuge in Mayodan with Reverend Donovan Furstenberg, Bishop Doyle Marley and Bishop Mike Ainsworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the church and all other times at the home.
Mrs. Knight was born on September 15, 1944 in New Hanover County, NC to the late Charlie Elijah Holloway and Estelle Creel Holloway. Irene retired after thirty-three and a half years as an educator with the Davidson County School System. She was a devoted pastors wife and for eight years, she was the Women’s Ministry Director for the Cornerstone Conference IPHC. She will be remembered for her love of playing the piano and singing, as well as making Christmas ornaments.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Karah Knight Easter and brothers, Charlie Holloway, Jr. and Jesse Holloway.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, Reverend Wayne Knight; son, Kyle Knight (Stephanie); grandchildren, Konnor Knight (Haley), Madeline Capps (Tate), Anthony Easter and Adam Easter; great-grandchildren, Kole Knight, Willow Knight, Browning Capps and Lainey Capps; sisters, Esther Holloway and Evelyn Hartsell and many extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Refuge Church, 213 S. Second Avenue, Mayodan, NC 27027.
