Howard “Howie” Wiseman Terry, Jr., 66 of Shiloh, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Torrey Easler officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens in Eden where he will be laid to rest beside his parents. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, February 4, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family respectfully asks for privacy in the days leading up to the visitation and service.

Howie was born in Rockingham County on July 28, 1958, to the late Howard W. Terry, Sr. and Bobbie Jean Saunders Terry. He graduated from Morehead High School where he was a talented football player. He was a welder/fabricator by trade and worked for Newman Machine in Greensboro for over 30 years until he was afflicted with cancer. Howie was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant everything to him.

Howie was a hard worker and always made sure his family never wanted for anything. His love of yard work and the outdoors, prompted him to take on landscaping as a second job. He spent much of his free time working in his own yard, which gave him great pleasure. Howie loved sports, especially football and basketball, and enjoyed watching his North Carolina Tar Heels and cheering them on. Most importantly, he had a deep and personal relationship with Christ. His faith in God, and his love for his family, kept him fighting these last seven years as he battled cancer.

In addition to his parents, Howie was preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne Terry.

Those left to cherish his memory are; his loving wife of 31 years, Kelly Taylor Terry; his three sons, Kyle Lott and wife Rebecca, Howie W. Terry, III and wife Jessica, and Matthew Terry; his grandchildren, Khloe, Haisley, Haxton, and one on the way, Sadie; and his sister, Sabrina Terry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charities Howie supported; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105 (https://www.stjude.org), and Wounded Warrior Project (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org).

The family would like to thank the staff of Eden Health and Rehab for the care given to Howie during his short stay there. Also, the staff of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, the Cancer Center ICU nurses, and the Palliative Care team for the excellent and genuine care given to Howie and his family.

James 1:12, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him”
