Obituary: HOWARD GLENN VERNON

Howard Glenn Vernon, 73 of Mayodan, passed away Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 28th, 2025 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Fair Funeral Home one hour prior to the service, from 1:00pm – 2:00pm. The family will not be receiving at the home.

Howard was born in Rockingham County on March 19, 1951, a son of Dewitt Vernon and Naomi Thornton Vernon, both deceased. Howard loved fishing, canoeing and kayaking in the rivers and Nantahala.

Howard retired from the Town of Mayodan and worked at Drs Medical Supply, Inc., which was his wife’s business.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan Griffin Vernon. He is also survived by stepdaughter, LeAndre Wilder (Jeff) of Mayodan; stepson, Isaac Paschal (Kim) of Eden; grandchildren, Madison Wilder and Isabella Snody; nieces, Dawn Cook, Loveta Cook, and Jennifer Griffin Moore.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Lynn Vernon, and brother, Thomas Vernon.
