Hollis Roosevelt Robertson passed away on Thursday January 9, 2025 at the home of his son, Tony. Per his wishes, his body has been donated to Wake Forest Medical Sciences.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Hollis was born in Rockingham County to the late George Dewey Robertson and Lula Allen Robertson. Graduating from Reidsville Senior High School in 1954, he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies playing in their farm leagues from 1954-1958. He was most successful with the Salt Lake Bees where he met his lifelong friend, Dallas Green. After baseball Hollis began work with the US Postal Service where he remained until his retirement.
Hollis is survived by his son Tony Robertson (Kim), daughter Holly McKown (Eric), grandchildren Justin Robertson (Megan), Sarah Curry (Ben), Jason, Aaron, and Alex McKown as well as 6 great grandchildren: Emersyn and Charleigh Mae Curry, Willow and Remy Robertson and Colton and Aiden McKown. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers: Dillard, Haywood, Hunter, Bernard, Claude, Fred, and Curtis.
