Obituary: HENRY AUSTIN MARTIN

Henry Austin Martin, 89, left this earthly life Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at UNC Rockingham Health Hospital, Eden, N.C.

A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2023, at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Sandy Ridge, N.C.

Henry was born on April 16, 1933, in Rockingham County, to the late Pearlie Clayton Martin and Emma King Martin. He was a humble, hardworking man, who loved his family. Henry was retired from American Furniture Company and Gravely Furniture. 

He was an outdoor man who loved gardening, working out in his flowers, and working on lawnmowers. He was always busy fixing things.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, Harold, Herbert, and J.C. Martin.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Janie Amos Martin; daughter, Donna Sue Martin and fiancé, Todd Gann; special friend, Joan Joyce, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
