

Hazel Louise Parrish Hurd passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Guilford House in Greensboro after several months of declining health. She was born on April 18, 1940, to the late Ernest Craven Parrish and Louise Collins Parrish. Hazel graduated from Madison High School and was a member of Mayodan First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her sons, Chris and Steve Hurd; her sister, Barbara Tucker; and her brother-in-law, Grady Tucker. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Hackett, and her husband, Barry; granddaughters, Jessica and Lauren Watts; and nephew, Gary Tucker, and his wife, Sharon.
Hazel was a wonderful mother and grandmother who deeply loved her family. While we grieve her presence here on Earth, we rejoice in knowing that she is with her friends and family members in heaven. We will cherish our memories of her.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff at Guilford House for the care and attention provided to Hazel. They were like a second family to her. The family would also like to thank the staff at AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice), especially Kelley, for the care and compassion given to her during these last few months.
