Obituary: HAZEL GREEN POST

Hazel Green Post is soaring with the Angels as she gained her wings on Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Gibson Hospice Home in Wentworth, NC. She had been in declining health during the last three months.

Hazel, a pharmacist by profession was very active in Reidsville and Rockingham County. She retired from the Rockingham County Health Department. An active Scouter for more than 50 years, she served in many capacities including Commissioner, District Commissioner, Troop Committee, Pack and Troop leader, and others. In addition, Hazel served as United Way Chairman, Campaign Director, Habitat for Humanity, The Free Clinic, and the Soup Kitchen. An active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hazel served several times on the Vestry, the Altar Guild, Women of the Church, and other church roles.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jerry, and her beloved husband, Bill, aka Phatman, Post. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Amy Post Bivins (Dave) of Long Beach, CA, her daughter Amber Yanis (Hazel’s granddaughter) of Long Beach, CA., and her children Nichalas, Julien, and Ameera (Hazel’s great-grandchildren). In addition, left to cherish her memory are son, Tom Post (Brenda) of Hopkins, NC, his daughter (Hazel’s granddaughter) Melissa Hogg (Justin) of Archers Lodge, and their children, Julianne, Kennedy, and Hudson (Hazel’s great-grandchildren), and step-grandson, Matt Cox of Goldsboro, NC. Hazel’s sister, Betty Green Linthicum, brother-in-law Earl Linthicum of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and sister-in-law Betty Green of Charlotte, NC, and several nephews and nieces, as well as several cousins mourn Hazel’s passing. Hazel had so many friends who loved her including three who visited and helped her almost daily, Debbie Merricks, Beverly Ragland, and Sid Baker, all from Reidsville. 

Hazel’s memorial service will take place Saturday, June 11 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Reidsville. The family will gather in the Pipkin Parlor afterwards to visit with everyone. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, the Outreach Center, or the Old North State Council, BSA. The family is grateful to everyone who have been such an integral part in Hazel’s life. Although Hazel has departed this earthly life, her presence will be forever felt. A gentle person, Hazel will always be in our hearts and the legacy of a servant’s spirit she leaves will hopefully be embraced by us all.
