Obituary: HAYWOOD ROLAND BLACKWELL

Mr. Haywood Roland Blackwell, age 84, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Public viewing will begin on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 1 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. The family will be present from 1 until 3 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Elm Grove Baptist Church, 1302 US-29 Business, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will take place at 12:30 p.m. Pastor C. Bradley Hunt II, presiding and Minister Grea Blackwell, eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in the Elm Grove Church Cemetery.

He was born on February 29, 1940 to the late Dwight Blackwell and Ethel Watlington Blackwell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Cecelia “Tillie” Harrison Blackwell; children, Todd Blackwell (Barbara), Terri Blackwell Yearwood (Roderick), Havis Blackwell and Erica Blackwell; goddaughter, Lois Taylor (Oradgneal II); grandchildren, Marnecus Smith, Chelsie Blackwell, Ajia Yearwood, Todd Blackwell II, Chase Blackwell, Roderick Yearwood II, Z’riyah Brown, Oradgneal Taylor, III; sister, Cynthia Carter (Apostle James); brother, James Blackwell (Delores); sisters-in-law, Gloria Welborne, Susan Blackwell, Ernestine Harrison and Peggy Harrison; brother-in-law, Thurman Harrison (JoAnn); a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
