Mrs. Hallie Palmer Ratliffe departed this life on Tuesday morning, December 26, 2023.
She was a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina and a resident of Guilford County for the majority of her life. Attending the local public schools, she was a graduate of Brown Summit High School, Class of 1946 and was the proprietor/owner of Ratliffe’s Grocery Store for many years (alongside with her husband, the late William Ratliffe, Sr.). Spiritually, she was a faithful member of Jackson United Methodist Church where she served with the United Methodist Women, Culinary Coordinator, Communion Steward, Nurturing Outreach Group Leader and member of the Board of Ushers. Adored and respected by all in the community, Mrs. Ratliffe was known for her empathetic nature, kind-hearted spirit and her desire to assist others. Truly an inspiration to all who knew her, she impacted the lives of many and we shall forever cherish her memory. During her leisure, she enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Her parents, Mattie Johnson Palmer and George Lee Palmer; adoptive parents, Lue and Tom Easley; beloved husband, William Edward Ratliffe, Sr.; siblings, Norman Palmer, Samuel Palmer, Kayron Palmer Pritchett, Annie Mae Palmer Page and Thomas Palmer and Estelle Keck, preceded her in death.
Survivors are: loving children, Lenora Graves (Ronel), Lynette Ratliffe and William Edward Ratliffe, Jr. (Marlys); grandchildren, Brian, David, Sanaa and William, III; special nieces and nephew, Vera Graves, Sandra Woodard and Walter Rankin; great-nephew, Cory Lott; other relatives and a multitude of friends of the community.
Special appreciation to the medical team for their exceptional care of Mrs. Ratliffe: Dr. Sherrill, Lisa Thomas, NP and staff at the Cancer Center at Drawbridge, Dr. Myers, Dr. J. Varnaski and Dr. Masneri Eagle at Oakridge.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 from the Jackson United Methodist Church, 7818 Jackson School Road with Pastor Phyllis Coates presiding and Rev. Paul N. Milton, the eulogist. Public viewing will be Thursday afternoon at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street, Reidsville. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions made to Jackson United Methodist Church, 7818 Jackson School Road, Brown Summit, NC 27214.
