Obituary: GRACIE MAE SMITH CURRY

Gracie Mae Smith Curry, 78, of Eden passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at UNC Health Rockingham in Eden.

A funeral service will be held 3pm Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Charity Baptist Church in Eden with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 from 5-7pm at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.

Gracie was born April 4, 1944, in Henry County, VA, to the late Robert Lee Smith and Cora Payne Smith. She worked at Fieldcrest Cannon for over 30 years until her retirement. After retiring, she went on to get her CNA license, spending the rest of her 25 years working to help others in need. She never met a stranger and loved to joke around with everyone she met. Gracie enjoyed sitting on her front porch, planting flowers, going to church, and visiting with people. Most of all, she loved and enjoyed being with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dwayne Allen Curry of Eden; granddaughters, Crystal Curry Brooks (Court); Kimberly Curry Watkins (Raushan); daughter-in-law, Cindy Curry; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Kolton, and Jadon Brooks, all of Eden, Kraven and Ivy Curry of Ridgeway; special friend, Daniel Howell of Tennessee.

In addition to her parents, Gracie is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Fredrick Curry; sons, Donald Ray Curry, Sr., Kenneth Andrew Curry; grandson, Donald (Jamie) Ray Curry, Jr; siblings, George Smith, Herman Smith, and Mable Smith Frazier.
