Obituary: GRACIE ANN MOORE MABE

Gracie Ann Moore Mabe, 89, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at North Pointe of Mayodan.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Woodbine Baptist Church with Reverend Hunter Gosnell and Reverend Randy Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday at the church.

Gracie was born on May 10, 1935 in Rockingham County to the late Johnny Moore and Ellie Wilkins. She was a longtime member of Woodbine Baptist Church where she shared her talent in the church choir. Gracie’s favorite color was red, a reflection of her vibrant and passionate spirit. She had a love for crafting and found great joy in creating handmade treasures. Gracie was a social butterfly, always eager to see and meet new people, making friends wherever she went. Her warm and generous nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Neal Mabe; brothers, James “Bud” Moore, Lee Moore, Wayne Moore, Tom Moore and Sam Moore; sisters, Jessie Mae Cook and Helen Knight; half-brothers, George Moore and Ray Moore and half-sisters, Eldene Hurd, Polly Jones, Lucille Jones and Mattie Vernon.

Survivors include her sons, Tim Mabe and Mike Mabe (Janet); grandchildren, David Mabe (Vera) and Rachel Mabe (Tim); sister, Pat James; brothers, Cub Moore (Margie) and Walter Moore (Betty): special niece, Cheryl Turner, and many extended family members.
