Ms. Gloria Redd Suggs departed this life on Tuesday afternoon, December 13, 2022.
She was a native and a resident of New Jersey for many years before returning to North Carolina in 1991. Ms. Suggs was a retiree of Wake Firm Food Corporation. During her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, watching television, gardening and traveling.
Her parents, Adeline Cobb Redd and Sterling Redd; daughter, Melvina Rollins; siblings, Sterling Redd, Oscar Redd, Eliza Bethel and Frances Inez Brown, preceded her in death. Survivors are: loving daughters, Debra Suggs and Lisa Suggs; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth “Polly” Graves and Gonnie Blackwell; brother, George Redd; special granddaughter, who she raised and nurtured, Mia Bethel; special friend, Dorothy Morris; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2022 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street with Rev. Spencer Woods presiding. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Public viewing will be Saturday afternoon at Johnson & Sons.
