
Gloria Anderson Miller Powers, 88, passed away Thursday morning, July 21, 2022, at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, July 24th, at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery.
Gloria was born January 9, 1934 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Herschel and Rosella Layton Anderson. She was a retiree of Rockingham County Schools and was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Madison. Gloria served her community as a member of Mayodan Town Council for three terms; a total of 12 years.
She is survived by her son, David Miller and wife, Debbie of Madison; four grandchildren, Nichole Barham (David), Sharon Ellis (Michael), John Miller (Rebecca) and Ashley Neal; six great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Jane Powers and Ann Hundley (Steve); sisters, Wanda Stewart of Tamarac, FL and Diane Bradsher of Rural Hall; son-in-law, Mark Lasley of Mayodan; sister-in-law, Carol Anderson of Arden, NC; along with numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Powers; daughter, Gay Lasley; son, Michael Miller; step-son, Bob Powers; brother, James Anderson and her first husband and father of her children, Vestel Miller.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to Cindy Tillman, Althea Fulcher and Teresa Holt for their years of friendship with Gloria.
