Gloria Moorefield Harris, 81, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother left this earthly life, Monday December 25, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side.
Gloria was born July 16, 1942, in Stokes County, to the late Otis and Catherine Dodson Moorefield. She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family. Gloria was a faithful member of Delta Methodist Church (50 plus years) where she served as church musician, sang in the choir and sang with the Delta Trio. Things that brought her greatest joy were her family, helping others, Delta Church, and cooking. Grandkids near and far always put a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Gloria’s motto that she lived by was “better to laugh than to cry.”
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Moorefield and a son Kevin Dwight Moorefield.
Survivors include husband Bobby Lee Harris; daughters Susan Fields (Rick), Gerrie Moorefield (Shaun), Pam Stophel (Mark), and Christy Hayden (Jeff); sons Eddie Moorefield (Robin), Shane Mabe (Karen) and Shawn Mabe (Laura); special pet Max, 17 grandkids and 11 great-grandkids.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Delta Methodist Church. There will be a covered dish supper following the service in the fellowship hall. The family will receive friends at the home.
A register will be available Friday from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel for those who would like to come sign the register and pay their respects.
