Obituary: GLADYS LONG BENNETT

Gladys Marie Long Bennett, 91, our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, born March 25, 1933, entered into eternal rest Friday, May 24, 2024, at LifeBrite Community Hospital of Stokes.

Gladys was born in Yadkin County, to the late Lindsay Hugh Long and Nora Royal Long. She retired from Ilco Unican Corporation with 30 plus years of service. She was a member of Capella Church of Christ. Gladys loved gospel singing, Bluegrass music, gardening, yard sales, and shopping at thrift stores.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Roy Hassell Bennett; daughter, Connie Bennett Holland; grandson, Wesley James Holland and brothers, Robert, Jake, and Lee Long.

Survivors include her children, Hassell Gray Bennett and wife Joyce, Mandy Bennett Freeman and husband Joe, and Amy Bennett Morrison and husband Tony; grandchildren, Samantha Freeman Brown and husband Scott and Shannon Jane Bennett; step grandchild, Kara Morrison Rodriguez and husband Dennis; great-grandchildren Alex Brown and Ashton Brown; and step great-grandchildren, Lindsay Brown Pruitt, Jonathan Brown, and Anslea Rodriguez. Also left to cherish Gladys’ memory are sisters, Sandra Long, Sarah Roberts, and Susan Harrison; brother-in-law, Max Bennett, and sister-in-law, Dot Bennett.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Capella Church of Christ and other times at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2024, at the church with interment following at the church cemetery.

The family extends their appreciation to Dr. Kirk Sanders and the staff at LifeBrite Community Hospital and the staff at Stokes County Nursing Home for their care and support. Also a special thank you to Judy Martin for caring for Gladys at home.
